Hurricane Helene and Milton
Hurricane Milton struck Florida on the evening of October 9, 2024. Just 2 weeks after Hurricane Helene hit the state, they face more clean up and rebuilding. These back-to-back hurricanes were devastating in several states. Our US Disaster Response team, churches, and volunteers have been on the ground since September. IDES is responding to Helene and Milton in Florida, Tennessee, and North Carolina with multiple churches. Primary relief efforts include clearing trees and damage, tarping roofs, and boarding up homes as well as cut-outs and muck-outs. We are now in phase two which will be repairing and restoring homes and building homes from the ground up. We anticipate that we will be working in the states of Appalachia for several months.
